Welcome to the UCO Tropical Field Biology homepage! This website is designed for students taking BIO 4970/5970 - Tropical Field Biology.

Before the trip, we will meet five times in HOH 308, from 5:30 – 7:20 PM. Meetings will be held on 27 March, 10 April, 17 April, 24 April and 1 May 2013.

The trip to Belize will occur from 20 - 31 May 2013.

Course Description:
This study tour will introduce students to aspects of tropical field biology in Belize. Students will become familiar with the flora and fauna of Belize and will discover how hydrology, geography, history and culture in Belize have shaped these tropical ecosystems. Students will visit ancient Mayan ruins, explore cave systems, spend three days canoeing the Sibun river, and explore coral reefs. Most of the time will be spent in Belize. The trip will last 12 days including travel days.
12 hours of biology or permission of instructor. For graduate credit, students must be graduate students with at least 12 hours of biology or permission of instructor.
